The first collaboration between singer-songwriter and guitarist Josep Siam, and music producer Fran Vives is a spoken word work that blends the punchy synths of Fran Vives with the organic, acoustic guitar signature of Josep Siam. The lyrics, with a quality that both comfort and confront the listener, are a personal manifesto about the notion of freedom, perceived as a quest beyond individualism intrinsically tied to social justice.

Freedom Is

To me, it is the joy, the laughter of children playing in nature
the coffee and toast of a lazy Sunday with my love
to climb a mountain, thank life for the struggle and beauty
to use my time to write a poem or a useless song.

What is it to be free?
Will you please tell me what is the meaning, the utility of freedom?

To me, it is to build my house and learn to do it with my own two hands
to leave home and start walking with the open mind of a real traveler
to get naked with my friends and jump into a cold mountain stream
to grow food from a seed and care for it, and of course share it
to be authentic, say what I mean and mean what I say without measure
to be defined not by my limitations but the actions I take to overcome them.

But freedom is collective,
or it is not freedom.

We have to stop destroying our planet treating nature as a commodity
we have to stop incarcerating children escaping from misery, seeking refuge
we have to stop the drowning of thousands in the Mediterranean, people looking for dignity and peace
we have to stop fascism in our governments and screens because it doesn't exist without complicity.

I want to live in a society that cares for everyone's freedom, that cares for everyone's freedom

Because freedom is collective,
or it is not freedom.
